Hi, I’m Josh and I am learning all the components of singing. I have fairly large vocal range, however, I would like to know how to sing in harmony. Some excersises, tips, and rules of harmony are the things that I am looking for. Does anyone know where I can get this? Thank you.
Bottom line: It was nice and I did saw some improvement but after a couple of months and hundreds of dollars that were gone, I did not feel I was getting enough of the improvement that I was looking for, and it was way too much money anyways, so I decided to look for other methods. I turned online and researched the different singing courses that are available.
I have checked out many reviews of the Superior Singing Method and the majority of them are very positive. Miss Alba wrote a review at myhowtosingbetter.blogspot.com and she said “there is no singing guide that has made as much of an impact as the Superior Singing Method” and that the lessons are very easy to understand.
Most teacher offer varying lesson lengths, starting at 30 minutes. This is often recommended for beginners, but you’ll want to check with your teacher to see what he or she suggests. 45- and 60-minute sessions are the the most popular length, as it allows for adequate time for warming up before getting to more complex exercises and songs.
I’m on the same opinion as Tret. How would you know? Besides the fact that you’ll feel you’re doing much better when you’re singing, (I know I did and I’m pretty sure anyone else who would do it almost every day for two months would feel the same) you can record yourself singing a song now and then when you finish. It would be great to hear back what you’re thinking.

Man, I’ve seen a lot of questions here like that and I think the best way is to get an teacher. It is my oppinion. I think we can learn by ourselves but an experient teacher can make you progress faster and in the correct way.
Let me offer a serious suggestion that has been a popular method of learning to sing for people for many generations: Attend church services on Sunday mornings at a Christian church and sing along with the hymns. Find a church whose congregation sings traditional church hymns from a hymnal book.

As you might expect, young teachers just getting started are likely to recognize their limitations and charge less than instructors with years of experience molding up-and-coming stars in Los Angeles or New York.
4 good habits would be: If a song is too high: Use your resonant (so-called “head”) voice. It can increase your range about a half octave. (6 semitones exactly, for me) If you have no idea what I mean by head voice, look it up. It’s a bit hard to explain. The other option is to sing louder (but don’t yell) if it is too high. My head voice is very weak, so I sing loud instead. Also, make your consonants clear. (I’m guilty of this one, too! 😄) If you sing into a mic, probably want to use the soft spongy covers for it if you get into this habit. That way you’re s’s won’t make everyone cringe from the high pitch. Don’t freak out if you suddenly sound terrible on one note. The closer you are to being on the correct note the worse it sounds, until our ears can’t hear the difference. And warm up first. Even if that’s singing a scale.
All singing is produced on vowel sounds. Consonants don’t have pitch. Some consonants like M and N are produced through a pitched hum – but that is not exactly singing. You need to work on what goes on in singing vowel sounds with your body.
The idea is that like tuning an instrument, you learn to tune your voice. Most digital tuners allow you to play the target note, but if not you’ll also want to have an instrument handy to play the note you’re aiming for. Then you simply use the digital tuner’s display to help develop your “feedback loop”. It provides a visual way to know whether you’re singing too high or too low.
You will suck if this is the attitude u give it. In order to have good vocals you also need to trust yourself!….. Close your eyes, and sing whatever comes….. twist the lyrics of already known songs, and use your current feelings. I bet youre trying to imitate other singers voices. Which is where youll sound like a mule cause every person has a different voice.

Sing the pitches “do re mi fa so mi do.” Sing “zi-ya” on the pitches. “Zi” is to be sung on “do re mi fa” in legato. Make these notes smooth and connected. “Ya” is to be sung on “so mi do.” It is supposedly sung in staccato. Make these notes short and separate, just like you sang “ha.” Putting these concepts together requires practice, as it involves transitioning between concepts. When singing “zi,” try to keep the jaw relaxed. Do not open your mouth too wide. In fact,sing this note with a rounded mouth that is only slightly open. This way, you will achieve a soft sound that is round and full. When you sing “ya,” do not widen the mouth once again. Slightly elongate the shape of your mouth. Because this also involves arpeggiation to some extent, it is always best to leave your hand on your diaphragm.
