This is a quick trick that makes you sound better instantly. Say A-E-I-O-U (watch your jaw movement in the mirror). Did your jaw close on any of the vowels? Chances are your jaw closed on the E and the U – and most likely on others too, if not all of them. Take your first two fingers and pull your jaw down 2 inches (or even better – use a plastic bottle cap or a cork (wine) to prop your jaw open). And speak the vowels again. And repeat again (we’re trying to re-program muscle memory – so the more the better). Now sing the vowels on one pitch. A-E-I-O-U. Your goal is to keep your jaw open (long not wide) without closing for all of your vowels. Repeat until you can do it. Now sing a phrase of one of your songs – and make sure your jaw opens to the same position on all of your vowels. You have to practice this a bunch before it becomes natural – but the more you do, the sooner this new movement is programmed into your muscle memory. And, you might be one of those lucky ones who notice the improvement in the sound right away (it will sound louder and more resonant with less vocal strain). If you don’t – don’t sweat it – you will. It just takes a little practice. (You might have some unwanted tension in your neck, jaw and throat muscles – try loosening them up and try it again.) The next time you perform open your jaw more on your vowels — it’s a quick trick that makes you sound better instantly!

Although singing isn’t the most difficult skill to learn, it’s definitely more complex than it seems. To some learners, singing comes naturally and they can create beautiful vocals with very little practice or effort.

During week 4, you will learn all the important factors about pitch. Learning how to sing on pitch is necessary if you want to become a professional singer. Autotune will no longer do the trick. A natural talent always shines through, and that is what everybody wants.
Cool Down: Don’t forget your vocal cool down after extensive vocal use. Gently humming feeling the focus of the sound on the lips is an excellent way to cool down the voice. You should hum gentle glides on the sound “m” feeling a tickling vibration in the lip/nose are.
Hi, I’ve been trying for a really long time to make my voice stronger and louder. I can sing high notes and low notes but really softly. If you listen to Get it Right from Glee sung by Lea Michelle she has such a strong voice with a lot of emotion. Do you have any suggestions on how to maybe get closer to that point? Obviously I’m not going to sound exactly like her but I would like to get better. I have had a huge dream of becoming a singer and right now I don’t know how to even achieve that goal.

+ It’s very time-efficient. You don’t have to drive somewhere for a lesson. You don’t have to wait for it to come in the mail since it’s accessible instantly from everywhere. The lessons are short and to the point. About 15 minutes a day and you’re done – and that’s really all you need in order to see massive improvement as long as you’re consistent.
I liked the idea, but the execution is severely lacking in what could be considered instructional guidance. There is no description of what you are supposed to do or achieve in the exercises. There is no explanation of the score you recieve, or how to improve. The songs from which you chose your goal are very limited, and yet you need to have your own Spodify account to use the entire song. On top of that, the limited list doesn’t have a trade off, such as added lyrics to follow or well-separated vocal and backing tracks. When it’s time to sing with the music, you can barely hear the instruments. Very disappointing.
It’s fascinating stuff, and not a single second of our lesson is wasted. Even when David asks me about my journey to his place, it ends with his pianist Katie saying “Hmmm, interesting” and playing David a trio of notes on the piano. “The reason we had that conversation,” he explains, “is so I could work out where on the scale your natural speaking voice falls.” We spend the last half hour focusing on my karaoke song. Every singer has a range of notes their voice is physically capable of producing. There are advanced techniques and long-term training which can extend this, but as a beginner you want to make sure you stay comfortable in your “easy” range. As soon as you start stretching your voice too high or too low your pitching will suffer (and so will your listeners!)

Yes there is. Most singers have breaks in their voice. You have to strengthen that area by exercising your voice with specific vocal exercises while holding your jaw down to lower the larynx. It is a process. I finished the Superior Singing Method course two years ago, in early 2015, and it was really the kickstart to my singing. It did not only promise, but also delivered a tremendous improvement in my singing and made me confident, for the first time in my life, to sing in front of other people when I play music. I needed just a couple of weeks (I’m not sure if two or three) to add more depth and clarity to my voice, and I am now fully capable of hitting high notes without sliding up to them – and then down to lower ones.
A proper warm-up is incredibly important before using your voice, as is staying hydrated at all times, which keeps your vocal cords from getting irritated. You also might notice specific foods that affect your voice. Some singers find that they don’t perform well after eating or drinking dairy, for example.
Be mindful of tempos and keys. Every decade of your adult life (between ages 15-25, again at 25-35 and again after 50) your vocal timbre and range is different. You have to allow for these changes in adjusting keys, tempos and song selection.
