Think of yourself as an athlete and eat that way: an athlete wouldn’t stuff herself with food just before running the mile and neither should you. A full stomach inhibits the movement of the diaphragm-you’ll have difficulty taking in full breaths and you’ll be prone to burping. Don’t starve yourself, either–singing is hard work, you need fuel. A normal meal an hour or two (two is better) before a singing session works best. If you need to eat between sets go for non-bulky, easy to digest food. Before a show I like eggs–high protein, low density.
Diction is how well you pronounce words while singing. It’s also known as “articulation.” In most contemporary music — especially pop, country, and rap — the lyrics are an integral part of the song. So as a singer, it’s your job to share those lyrics with your audience.

There is a correct way to sing, and when you adapt correct technique your voice will flourish! You will develop a powerful, wide vocal range. Your tone will be thick and rich, consistent through your entire range. Which leads me to another point….
Practice daily. Every day, practice your breathing exercises, warm-up routine, and recorded singing. Listen for parts that you don’t hit with your voice and keep chugging. It could take several weeks of practice just to get a single song down pat.

To be honest, when you’re hitting the higher notes, you should be shifting from your chest to your head voice anyway, so you asthma is less of a problem for higher notes and more of a problem when singing constantly low. @naught101 My criticism isn’t on the contents of the book and I’m not addressing the possibility that it may be wrong, but rather on the presentation of the text (which is archaic and hard to read). Just try and read the text yourself. It’s not good studying to learn from something that’s hard to grok while there are much more suitable books out there written in modern English. As @luserdroog said in the comments, it would be best if you could get at least a couple lessons. Otherwise you risk learning bad habits with the physical aspects (that can’t be taught well except in person) that you’ll have to un-learn later.

Overall, you have to go through 31 audio vocal lessons and about 49 videos. Now, 80 lessons seems like a lot, but I strongly discourage skipping through any lessons. There’s a lot of work to be done. You may be missing out on some valuable information if you skip through one of the audio tutorials or videos.
We would move a little faster for the older beginner and work through the Alfred’s All in One in conjunction with introducing my 5 steps to performance for any popular style. These steps have been very valuable for those that are wanting to play piano, guitar, bass, or even sing.
Of course, it’s one thing to sing freely in a rehearsal room, quite another to do so in public. And so, two days later, I head to All Star Lanes in Brick Lane, London, to test out my new skills. The pressure’s on: standing in front of my audience of six friends, I suddenly know exactly how it feels to be Chris Martin surveying Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage crowd. But the pressure doesn’t last long. Less than a minute into my rendition of Don’t Stop and my friend Jim turns to me: “Have you been taking singing lessons?” For the first time in his life, he doesn’t appear to be taking the piss. Besides the fact that you’ll feel you’re doing much better when you’re singing, (I know I did and I’m pretty sure anyone else who would do it almost every day for two months would feel the same) you can record yourself singing a song now and then when you finish. It would be great to hear back what you’re thinking.

Learning to become a great singer was always a life goal of mine as becoming a pop star was what I wanted as a child. I had tried singing lessons at various different stages of my life but I just felt the prices of lessons so I gave up on 5 different teachers. However, about a year ago I came across a program online that taught me how to sing through online lessons which not only was much cheaper but it has allowed me to become a very excellent vocalist.
You’ve probably heard that honey/lemon/and hot water are helpful if you have mucous in your throat. But remember that lemon is drying so don’t overdo it. I prefer gargling, here’s the best way: If your throat feels gunky and/or irritated: mix 1/4 teaspoon baking soda + one cup warm water. Take a small amount of fluid in your mouth and gargle at a high pitch-this causes your vocal cords to contract and rise closer to where you are actually gargling (your epiglottis will prevent the fluid from actually reaching your vocal cords). Spit and repeat several times.
You won’t go to the hospital for drinking salt water. Salt is in everything. Sure if you drink it in an excessive amount you might get a little sick/dehydrated but that’s it. Other than that good tip for helping soothe a sore throat.
What I think about the teacher: I like Aaron’s style since he speaks very coherently and gets his message across in a nice way and without blabbering. If you like watching YouTube lessons so you know this isn’t something trivial. You can check him out in his YouTube channel and judge for yourself. I still follow his channel even though I finished the main singing course two years ago since he regularly uploads good stuff and singing tips.
Joel is not only an outstanding musician, he is also a great teacher! I had the pleasure of taking piano lessons from him and enjoyed every minute of it and learned a ton. Cool Down: Don’t forget your vocal cool down after extensive vocal use. Gently humming feeling the focus of the sound on the lips is an excellent way to cool down the voice. You should hum gentle glides on the sound “m” feeling a tickling vibration in the lip/nose are.

It is part of a biological condition of the brain called amusia which encompasses a number of musical inabilities, including some related to rhythm rather than pitch. As part of amusia, tone deafness means that you are incapable of hearing the differences between musical pitches.

(: As to your question, yes, I also had some experience before taking it and it still helped me out a lot. Doing the exercises every day for 8 weeks will definitely improve you and give you a larger sense of confidence in your singing. As to the price, based on the fact that it’s a full course for the price of two-three lessons with a real teacher – for me it was easily worth it.
