Alfred, Your break is perfectly normal. It’s called “the pssagio”. The way to fix the break is to train your voice with vocal technique the build strength in the pssagio or “break” area. Singers are like athletes who need to train the small muscles of the voice to improve performance. – Not really a con – but the course demands dedication every day (or close to every day) for two months. 10-15 minutes a day is not much and it’s extra time that everyone has, but again – make sure that you really want it and willing to put in the efforts.

It’s almost like asking if you can stay fit, or better yet, increase muscle tone, without exercise. The voice box is made up, primarily, of muscle, so, in order to keep it in shape the vocal instrument needs……

Find your range. Your range is the measure of pitches you can sing between your lowest and highest notes. Try any number of classical musical scales (you can easily find them with a simple online search) and see which notes on the bottom and which notes on the top are impossible for you to clearly sing.

For the best experience, we typically recommend 60-minute singing lessons. However, students looking for a more affordable option may want to consider a shorter lesson length of 45 or 30 minutes. On average, 45-minute singing lessons are 22% less expensive at $52, and 30-minute lessons cost 41% less at $39.

Hi I have been seeing really positive reviews of superior singing method all over the internet. But I’m just wondering what are the chances of it helping improve a voice that has really bad pitch, tone agility power basically just a terrible singing voice? And realistically how long would it take to helpimprove your voice.
@bobobobo, I agree with you to a point. But you don’t want to wait long before seeking a lesson or three from a teacher. Certainly don’t begin heavy practicing in earnest without seeking a teacher’s advice. I don’t think it’d be good advice to NOT practice… but take it easy, so you don’t harm your voice. – Josh Fields Sep 22 ’12 at 0:06
Hi… so when I sing I think I sound really good, but then I record it and listen to it and I sound really young (I’m 15, by the way) and shy, and my voice just sounds really unnatural. My choir teacher recently asked me to start cantoring at my church, but I don’t want to sing and then sound like an idiot in front of a few hundred people… Do you have any suggestions to help make my voice sound more natural and confident? Thanks!
Yes there is. Most singers have breaks in their voice. You have to strengthen that area by exercising your voice with specific vocal exercises while holding your jaw down to lower the larynx. It is a process. You shouldn’t open the jaw too far (only about 1.5-2″ depending on how easily your jaw opens) This is a process we use in vocal technique that is a bit more complex than that but you can start with these exercises here https://www.caricole.com/singersgift
I must say that, after just a couple of weeks of watching Aaron’s comprehensible videos and reading his amazing suggestions, I was able to spot an improvement in how my voice sounded – deeper, clearer, and perfectly confident.
It’s extremely important to find a good voice teacher and to ask about an instructor’s training and background, because poor instruction or incorrect practice can actually ruin your voice. Singing should never hurt.
Developing your mix voice is absolutely essential if you want to sing higher notes with more power, have better vocal tone, sing with less strain, and smooth out the transitions in your voice while you sing. With Superior Singing Method you get uniquely effective vocal exercises that will develop your mix voice so that you have a smooth, blended voice free from cracks and breaks. You will be able to sing continuously across your entire vocal range with excellent control and will be able to sing higher notes with better tone and pitch.
Your vocal chords are composed of muscles. Before you strain it with your singing, make sure that you are able to stretch it and warm it up ahead, just like what you need to do when exercising muscles in other parts of the body.
Being a rubbish singer is something I’ve long wanted to fix. But how easy is it to sort out? Would it be possible to improve my singing voice in just one short lesson? If anyone could help me then surely it was David Grant who, with his wife, Carrie, has coached Take That and Charlotte Church, as well as writing the book How to Sing. David’s agreed to give me a two-hour lesson, all geared towards performing one song – one great party trick.
Some recognize notes and enjoy a melody, but say they can’t sing or play. I say you can sing and you can play. If you just follow the proper singing lessons and proper instrument basics, you can sing and play. It is not difficult but simple. All you have to do is to put some effort. Just to practice and that is all what matters.
I offer private coaching to children, teens, adults who have an interest in acting or singing performance, and for those who simply have an interest in performing or speaking in front of others. In addition to coaching those who wish to better their skills in acting, voice and speech, and singing, I also offer coaching for non-actors; i.e., attorneys, business professionals, teachers, politicians, pageant participants, and other creatives, who want to improve their public speaking and communication skills.
A vocal coach, also known as a voice coach (though this term often applies to those working with speech and communication rather than singing) is a music teacher, usually a piano accompanist, who helps singers prepare for a performance, often also helping them to improve their singing technique and take care of and develop their voice, but is not the same as a singing teacher (also called a “voice teacher”). Vocal coaches may give private music lessons or group workshops or masterclasses to singers. They may also coach singers who are rehearsing on stage, or who are singing during a recording session. Vocal coaches are used in both Classical music and in popular music styles such as rock and gospel. While some vocal coaches provide a range of instruction on singing techniques, others specialize in areas such as breathing techniques or diction and pronunciation.
The second module discusses everything about managing your breath. You will learn how to control your breathing properly during week 2. It contains a variety of breathing techniques and exercises, which are taught by Aaron. Since there will be something added or taken away for each day of this week, it is essential that you go through every lesson.
