The most important thing I learn, though, is how to breathe properly. When David first asks me to take a deep breath, I instinctively puff out my chest while my stomach contracts. “We’re taught to be tense, to hold ourselves in,” he says, before explaining that the proper way to breathe is to relax, take in air deeply as if into your stomach, and then use this to support your voice as you sing. It can feel counter-intuitive, but with a bit of practice I start to get the hang of it.
Just bear in mind that HearAndPlay is very much Gospel & R&B/Soul oriented – this fact sometimes throws some people off. However, this does not mean that they only teach Gospel songs, so don’t run away scared now.

But I’m just wondering what are the chances of it helping improve a voice that has really bad pitch, tone agility power basically just a terrible singing voice? And realistically how long would it take to helpimprove your voice.
So I wanted to give them to you as if I was actually giving you a voice lesson, right here, right now. Stand in front of a mirror if you can, because I’m going to ask you to watch your jaw and your head position to control movement as you sing.
Begin with breathing exercises. Breathing exercises will allow you to better control the pitch and duration of your singing. It’s no surprise: singers who can breathe deeply and consistently get better mileage out of their voice.

Basically, you need to record yourself and practice often. If your like me, you will hate the sound of your own voice at first. Don’t worry, you will get better. Most importantly, don’t hurt yourself. If you find a teacher that claims singing is “athletic”, find a new teacher.
I love holiday music and am taking a group holiday a capella class. It’s a group of about half a dozen people, meeting 6 times (plus 1 make-up lesson and at least 3 performances). It’s 200 for the class, so about $33 a lesson.
Pitch is defined as the quality that allows us to classify a sound as relatively high or low, and is determined by the frequency of sound wave vibrations. Knowing how to sing on pitch is what sets apart great singers.
After I have finished the entire course, I felt like I can sing any song in any note and chord. I had the confidence to take on more songs that are difficult to sing. Since I felt like I could handle any song, I was able to write songs that challenged my vocal ability. The Superior Singing Method is worth $97 but what I got was more than my money’s worth.
Certainly, when you exercise, run, or play sports, a healthy warm up is a good way to prepare, improve your performance, and prevent injury to yourself. The same holds true when you use your voice. A short vocal warm up improves the quality of the sounds you make and helps prevent vocal injury, keeping you in good voice and making your voice production feel better. Many people use warm ups everyday. You should use vocal warm ups before vocally intensive activities like public speaking or singing, classroom teaching, or exuberant social events.
This doesn’t mean that you have to practice for long periods of time. Make shorter practice sessions strategic yet fun! Create your own silly warm-ups — try singing with “nonsense” words, or make a simple song your warm-up.

Hellomy name is Arrolla , I have recently developed rattling in my throat. I’m very frustrated because I can’t get rid of it, at first I thought it was a cold or the flu, but then it stayed for a long time. I now am afraid that my voice will have this phelmy sound.I’m currently trying eucalyptus oil in the air that helps a lot, but I’m wondering if you have some other ideas that I could use. Hi my name is Kei-shun and I’m a tenor. I have a non straining vocal range from G#2-E4. My music teacher, Daniel Henry, told me that I have the quality of a tenor one, so I sing tenor one. When I was 14 I could sing cheat voice to C5 with no problem. Now I’m 17 I start to strain going pass E4, as if my voice tries to go into head tone. If I sing soft I can sing to C5, but when I sing tenor one in the choir can’t get pass the E4; it would sound throaty and straining. I want to know how could I train myself to sing between F4-C5 with no problem, so I could be a tenor one like I want to be.
I was so tired of having one vocal coach after another tell me what THEY thought I should be capable of. Only I can determine that, and with the help of the Superior Singing Method my full potential started to reveal itself.

Start by practicing with a backing track. You can normally find karaoke versions of popular songs on YouTube, or if necessary you can use the regular studio version, singing along with the lead singer. Begin with just a short section of the song, for example just the chorus.

Ugh, I wish I could sing. I want to get into theatre acting (its my first job choice, I do have backups) but being able to sing is something that would really help me as musical theatre is big in the industry (well, where I live, its the only kind of theatre) and yeah. Its not shyness or anything like that because when I do perform, I am the most confident person ever its just my singing voice sounds like 100 cats being strangled :/ is there anything that could help me?
I definitely understand where you are coming from. I couldnt hit high notes with good tone literallu a few weeks ago. Now that I know how to sing more correct I can definitely understand her anologies. Singing is hard to teach, I imagine because people are stubborn lol
