Practicing how to sing daily is just logical, right? Simply sing daily. Practice going higher and try out new songs. What’s so complicated about singing? It’s just something you can practice in the shower, right?
The first part of knowing what group you belong in is your gender. If you are a female, then you are either an alto or soprano. If you are a male, then you are either a tenor or bass. The second part is how high or low your voice is. If you are a female and you’re more comfortable singing at a high pitch rather than a low pitch, then you are a soprano. If you are a female and you’re more comfortable singing at a lower pitch, then you are an alto. If you are a male and you’re more comfortable singing at a higher pitch, then you are a tenor. If you are a male and you’re more comfortable singing at a lower pitch, then you are a bass.
Staying away from caffeine, smoke, and alcohol. Those three substances can damage your voice. If you want to sing well, you have to avoid at least going overboard – drinking too much coffee, chain smoking, and taking in a lot of alcoholic beverages.
Tongue Trill: Relaxes the tongue and engages breathing and voice. Place your tongue behind your upper teeth. Exhale and trill your tongue with a “r” sound. Hold the sound steady and keep the breath connected. Now try to vary the pitch up and down the scale while trilling. Again, don’t push beyond what is comfortable at the top or bottom of your scale.
Guitar: I’ve found that guitar method books are nearly as diverse as the guitarists that play them! That being said, I typically start with the Essential Elements for guitar for a solid introduction to music reading and a touch of theory.

I am teenager and sings a little bit …my voice already cracked ..but it still is undergoing some variations which is not so suitable for my singing career …is there any way for me to save my voice from variation and improve it over time …..??

You really are better at anything you do when you do it with confidence, I haven’t haven’t sang in a while since I lost my guitar but I use to have half@sssd confidence in it. I started singing again tonight and was confident anything is achievable if you set your mind (also had a lot of complements about my ability which helps) and I have been singing better then I ever have before, all day today. When you don’t believe in your abilities you don’t give it your all, the key is believing in yourself completely so can give it everything you have, without sabotaging yourself due to worry that your best isn’t good enough.
You’ve probably heard that honey/lemon/and hot water are helpful if you have mucous in your throat. But remember that lemon is drying so don’t overdo it. I prefer gargling, here’s the best way: If your throat feels gunky and/or irritated: mix 1/4 teaspoon baking soda + one cup warm water. Take a small amount of fluid in your mouth and gargle at a high pitch-this causes your vocal cords to contract and rise closer to where you are actually gargling (your epiglottis will prevent the fluid from actually reaching your vocal cords). Spit and repeat several times.
Singing is a much more complex art than it first appears. It is near impossible to learn proficiently when just singing along to songs or looking at online resources. Private singing lessons will give you total attention from your vocal coach, in order for you to improve your voice quickly and effectively. Your voice teacher will also be able to see any weak points that a trainer of a choir or group class may not notice. This way, you will avoid developing bad habits that might impede your progress.
Humming: Highlights anterior frontal vibrations in your lips, teeth and facial bones. Begin with lips gently closed with jaw released. Take an easy breath in and exhale while saying “hum”. Begin with the nasal sound /m/ and gently glide from a high to a low pitch as if you were sighing. Don’t forget your vocal cool down after extensive vocal use. Gently humming feeling the focus of the sound on the lips is an excellent way to cool down the voice. You should hum gentle glides on the sound “m” feeling a tickling vibration in the lip/nose are.
I’m going to give you an exercise and a lesson for singing with good pitch. Those of you who watch American Idol, the word “pitch” has become a household word. We all know what that means when a singer is singing slightly off-pitch. Pitch is something that even good singers work hard to have. You can have a really good musical ear and have a good musical voice, and still go slightly off-pitch. You can have a voice that goes off-pitch just from not being a singer and not using the voice much. The more you sing, the better your center of pitch gets. You want to think of pitch like a circle with a bullseye right in the center. Different singers actually sing and professional singers who have good pitch all have a slightly different center of pitch. So there are some singers that sing slightly sharp, and some singers that sing slightly flat, but not enough to go outside of that circle. So it sounds like its really good pitch, but if you put them together singing in unison, you would even hear that.
Arms – When you aren’t gesturing, you should be relaxing your arms at your sides. Don’t make fists, clasp your hands, or fidget with your clothes. This adds tension and makes you look (and feel) nervous.
A lot of breathing exercises incorporate singing different sounds on pitches and working up and down the scale. Making sure you breathe from your belly and support your voice throughout the entire exercise is the key to power.
Sing “mi-mommy-made-me-eat-my-m&ms” on the notes “do re mi fa so fa mi re do.” Start out by singing “mi” while moving the pitch up higher on the notes “do re mi fa.” “Ya” is to be sung on “so fa mi re do.” The note “so” is one pitch higher than “fa,” and therefore, it is necessary to imply on one pitch higher with the word “ya” before going back down the scale. Try to connect the notes and the words sung on the melody in a smooth fashion. This is called legato.
Sing the pitches “do re mi fa so mi do.” Sing “zi-ya” on the pitches. “Zi” is to be sung on “do re mi fa” in legato. Make these notes smooth and connected. “Ya” is to be sung on “so mi do.” It is supposedly sung in staccato. Make these notes short and separate, just like you sang “ha.” Putting these concepts together requires practice, as it involves transitioning between concepts. When singing “zi,” try to keep the jaw relaxed. Do not open your mouth too wide. In fact,sing this note with a rounded mouth that is only slightly open. This way, you will achieve a soft sound that is round and full. When you sing “ya,” do not widen the mouth once again. Slightly elongate the shape of your mouth. Because this also involves arpeggiation to some extent, it is always best to leave your hand on your diaphragm.

Locate your diaphragm below your chest and above your belly – buried behind muscle, but detectable when you notice your chest expanding as you inhale. The goal is to direct all of your inhaled air into your balloon-like diaphragm – not your shoulders.
I have had formal voice lessons during my teenage years. I took choir in college and have had 30+ years of singing and teaching experience. I am the Music Director at my church, directing congregational singing and choir, and I also teach elementary music class once a week in our Christian school. I have only been vocally trained; therefore, I have to hire a pianist to play for the voice lessons I give, so that comes out of what I charge. I have had several students in the last few years ranging in age from 12 to 32. I try to keep voice lesson costs as low as possible, and I am also willing to work with the person a little, depending on each situation.
There exists a science that dictates how a beautiful tone is produced. One of the things that can give a singer a gorgeous tone is the use of vocal resonances. These resonances (Frontal sinus, Sphenoid sinus, Maxillary sinus and Ethmoid air cells) enhance phonation in quality of tone, intensity and color. This results in a beautiful, rich and unique sound. In contrast, resonating poorly will make one’s voice sound thin and ordinary. At “Beautiful Voice NJ” students spend of part of their private singing lesson learning how to resonate.

Hi, I’ve been trying for a really long time to make my voice stronger and louder. I can sing high notes and low notes but really softly. If you listen to Get it Right from Glee sung by Lea Michelle she has such a strong voice with a lot of emotion. Do you have any suggestions on how to maybe get closer to that point? Obviously I’m not going to sound exactly like her but I would like to get better. I have had a huge dream of becoming a singer and right now I don’t know how to even achieve that goal.
In addition to noticing your diaphragm move, think about your jaw, lips, tongue, cheeks and upper palate. Are they relaxed? What size and shape is the cavity inside your mouth? What happens to the sound if you change it? Make very small changes to consider the effects. Does it please you?
