Begin with breathing exercises. Breathing exercises will allow you to better control the pitch and duration of your singing. It’s no surprise: singers who can breathe deeply and consistently get better mileage out of their voice.
Practice hitting the high notes. High notes are the icing on top of the cake: not always necessary, but really wonderful when done right. You probably already know your range by now, so you also know which high notes you can hit and which ones you can’t. Be sure to practice hitting the ones you can’t yet reach. Practice will make perfect.
Finally, don’t be surprised if most voice teachers work you out with a smoother approach…I hesitate to use the word, Classical, to make you turn and run….but most good teachers have had some classical training in their background. It doesn’t mean you have to sound that way yourself. But in fact, clear, melodic, scales and jumping exercises on 3/4 power will make all singers perform better, especially those with aggressive songs. Oh yes, I believe a teacher should help you become independent, so that you understand what you are doing right, and how to do it consistently.

Humming: Highlights anterior frontal vibrations in your lips, teeth and facial bones. Begin with lips gently closed with jaw released. Take an easy breath in and exhale while saying “hum”. Begin with the nasal sound /m/ and gently glide from a high to a low pitch as if you were sighing. Don’t forget your vocal cool down after extensive vocal use. Gently humming feeling the focus of the sound on the lips is an excellent way to cool down the voice. You should hum gentle glides on the sound “m” feeling a tickling vibration in the lip/nose are.
Hellomy name is Arrolla , I have recently developed rattling in my throat. I’m very frustrated because I can’t get rid of it, at first I thought it was a cold or the flu, but then it stayed for a long time. I now am afraid that my voice will have this phelmy sound.I’m currently trying eucalyptus oil in the air that helps a lot, but I’m wondering if you have some other ideas that I could use. Hey Shane, I was following the program every day (it was rare that I skipped a day) for 8 weeks, while also singing some of my favorite songs in between on my guitar practice sessions. Starting from the 3rd or 4th week I started feeling the major improvement as well.

The doctor will use a “Scope”- a little video camera on the end of a teeny cord- to determine if you have nodules or some type of tissue damage. He/she will also determine if you have an infection or allergy that has made your vocal cords inflamed. (Females with hormonal problems can have their vocal health yo-yo about.) The E.N.T. should check if you have GERD- acid reflux- where stomach acids are burning your vocal cords. Once all medical conditions are ruled out or treated, see a voice teacher who can evaluate if you are straining, if your song keys are wrong, and such. Then take a few months of lessons- 3 should do it,- and reverse any bad habits. You also need a custom warm-up routine to use before performing. Ask your voice teacher to evaluate your live show. You don’t need to be paranoid here and start off a relationship with a man or woman who could wind up teaching you for years in a negative fashion, but feel free to see if they’ll connect you or let you speak with a former or current student. You can ask simple questions, such as how lessons have been going, if other customers feel the lessons are worth the price, and how this specific Teacher has changed the life or prospects of the student. Nothing invasive or too investigatory, but there’s nothing wrong with making sure you’re going to be working with the right person for you! In fact, some colleges and universities allow prospective students to spend time with those already attending so they can ask all the questions they want and really get a feel for whether or not the place is a good fit. Of course! To a certain extent. There are some aspects that you can improve, such as staying on tune, breathing, articulation, expression, etc. The voice you’re born with is, however, is the voice you are stuck with.

The Siren is a warm-up technique practiced by many professional singers, and is also a great exercise for beginners. Sing the sound over and over, producing the sound only through your nose. In order to check that you are doing it correctly, pinch your nose from time to time–the sound should stop completely when you do so.
Staying away from caffeine, smoke, and alcohol. Those three substances can damage your voice. If you want to sing well, you have to avoid at least going overboard – drinking too much coffee, chain smoking, and taking in a lot of alcoholic beverages.

This happens because your voice actually sounds different to you than other people. This is due to the physics of sound being carried inside your body as well as outside through the air when you hear it. When you hear a recording you are actually hearing what other people hear when you sing.
It’s almost like asking if you can stay fit, or better yet, increase muscle tone, without exercise. The voice box is made up, primarily, of muscle, so, in order to keep it in shape the vocal instrument needs……
Begin with the basic solfege (by sound) notes: “do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do,” while ascending the pitches along with a piano or keyboard accordingly. The object is to decline back down to the pitch “do,” by singing “do, ti, la, so, fa, mi, re, do.”
Sing the pitches “do re mi fa so mi do.” Sing “zi-ya” on the pitches. “Zi” is to be sung on “do re mi fa” in legato. Make these notes smooth and connected. “Ya” is to be sung on “so mi do.” It is supposedly sung in staccato. Make these notes short and separate, just like you sang “ha.” Putting these concepts together requires practice, as it involves transitioning between concepts. When singing “zi,” try to keep the jaw relaxed. Do not open your mouth too wide. In fact,sing this note with a rounded mouth that is only slightly open. This way, you will achieve a soft sound that is round and full. When you sing “ya,” do not widen the mouth once again. Slightly elongate the shape of your mouth. Because this also involves arpeggiation to some extent, it is always best to leave your hand on your diaphragm.
Sing “do mi so mi do” while repeatedly singing the word “ha” on the notes. Ascend the word “ha” on the notes “do mi so,” and descend the word “ha” on the notes “mi do.” Sing this warm up in staccato, meaning, making each and every note short and separated, yet with control.It is best to place your hand on your stomach to make sure you are doing this exercise correctly. Each time you say “ha” while making sure the breath is coming from your diaphragm, you should feel a slight shaking feeling in your stomach, and the hand that is on it.

Everyone would love to be able to sing one of these famous singer’s songs and hit every note, but most cannot. Instead, it’s important to understand your own personal range, and keep it in consideration as you’re warming up and selecting repertoire.
The Superior Singing Method is one impressive online vocal training lesson. In my opinion, it is one of the best. I have taken different singing lessons, and I will have my reviews posted here. The next thing with pitch is using the piano or using an instrument as a guide, which is really helpful. And the third thing is to sing a cappella a lot. But here’s the thing with that, if you’re going to sing A cappella, I’d like you to find what key the song is in and use an iPhone app or something, a piano app, to actually hit the note first for you, so that you are in the right key, if you are going to sing A cappella. And that’s a trick for singing a cappella songs in general. If you are going to go for an audition, you want to make sure that you don’t come in on the wrong note or in the wrong key, and then all of a sudden you are singing way higher than you need to. You want to be in the right key.
Another reason is that the vocal exercises can be downloaded so you can work on your voice anytime. In addition, the exercises are designed to expand different aspects of your vocals such as the range, resonance, power, control and tone.
