If you try to learn how to sing from free lessons, you’ll soon discover that’s it’s a painful task because there isn’t a library of lessons and steps from A to Z. This is why an actual program of online singing lessons is recommended to get you organized and on the right path to improve your voice correctly.
Begin with the basic solfege (by sound) notes: “do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do,” while ascending the pitches along with a piano or keyboard accordingly. The object is to decline back down to the pitch “do,” by singing “do, ti, la, so, fa, mi, re, do.”
If you can, record every practice session. Heck, record yourself every time you sing if you can! You will then be able to compare each session, hear improvements, and realize when things are going right… or wrong 🙁
If you are even remotely considering college for vocal performance (or anything that involves voice work, to be frank) or trying to build a career as a professional Singer, you should start thinking about hiring a Vocal Coach immediately. It is only in your favor to begin learning at a very young age, and with every year you don’t have someone instructing you on how to best harness and hone your talents, the more difficult it may be to end up in the school you really want to attend when the time comes. Sure, there are those who can get in based solely on an incredible gift, but it’s always better to be prepared and to put in the work. Don’t waste any time in starting the hunt for the perfect man or woman who will help you learn everything there is to know about singing, resting, warming up, and perhaps even the industry you’ve decided you may want to venture into. There is a lot riding on your education and a Vocal Coach is likely the first step in a long process. Therefore it’s understandable if you feel daunted by the prospect of starting your search for a coach but waiting doesn’t help anybody — especially you!
Exercising your vocal chords is an essential step towards learning how to sing. You need to take control of the air that you breathe because this will affect your pitch. How long you will be able to hold on to high notes also depend on how well you are able to manage your breathing while you sing.
Our speaking voice is always inside our comfortable singing range, so you can treat this as an “anchor note” or a starting point for exploring your range. From this note, try sweeping up and down in pitch with your voice.
Overall, you have to go through 31 audio vocal lessons and about 49 videos. Now, 80 lessons seems like a lot, but I strongly discourage skipping through any lessons. There’s a lot of work to be done. You may be missing out on some valuable information if you skip through one of the audio tutorials or videos.
3 stars because it doesn’t always work… all the sudden my pitch won’t show up on the screen…. that it kind of the whole point. This seems to be because of a sort of crackling that makes it try to decide between a really low pitch or high pitch and it ends up just giving up. I would blame this on the headphones, but they’re from Apple and do very clear audio recordings. Or it just won’t work at all. But normally, the dot will move and twitch between a really low pitch and the pitch I’m actually at

Singers, why limit yourself to one genre? Many artists have produced amazing cover songs to put their own spin on tunes, even those not in their particular genre. Here, St. Augustine, FL voice teacher Heather L. shares six covers worth a listen… How amazingly awesome is it to hear a song re-sung by a singer in a way that’s totally unlike the original version? The correct answer? Really amazingly awesome! Sometimes it can change the way we hear the lyrics completely, sometimes it’l … Read More

This manual works hand in hand with the entire course. Instead of going through the entire course first then going through the manual, I suggest that you take the time to do both of them together. I did this, and it helped me tremendously.

Private vocal coaching was not the road I wanted to go. I needed someone who can help me become a professional singer. You see, I live in a small and uneventful town (very unlike LA or New York). The local vocal coaches could not help me become a real singer.
Voice students are a bit different in that I don’t use a specific method to instruct. I have many books that I draw from when teaching voice due to the unique nature of the individual. Depending on the style of music, from classical to jazz/pop, I have music that will teach proper breath support, vowel placement and tone.
Our philosophy is simple. We make learning music fun, and are committed to the integrity of a quality music education. In addition to a foundational education, students are given ample opportunity to make music with others. The confidence gained by learning music parlays with other areas, giving students the self-assurance to take on new challenges.
Try singing along to a song that you like with a voice recorder nearby. Make sure the music is quiet and your voice is the real thing that the recorder picks up. After you’re done singing, check if you are singing on key. Also check to see if you are:
Yea, I have some friends in music school and I know how sometimes the lessons there can seem like they go around and around, so it’s fun to have lessons that are practical and get you straight to the point. Also, there’s no need to read note sheets here, so you focus strictly on your ears and vocal cords which I find more straightforward.
You are given instant access to all the necessary tools, videos, training tips and instruction to see results unique and personal to where you’re at with YOUR voice. Enter a local singing competition. Be reasonable about how you expect to perform; if you’ve been singing for less than 3 months and have no formal training, it’ll be difficult — but that’s what you want, right?
Who doesn’t want more power without strain? This is a simple technique to apply and a bit easier than the one above. All you have to do is to keep your chin pointed slightly down and your pectorals slightly flexed (well sometimes it’s a lot flexed) when you go for more power. Most singers reach forward or lift their chin up to sing with more power. While it may temporarily work, it causes vocal problems. Tipping your chin down not only works better and saves your voice – it actually SOUNDS better! Stand in front of the good ‘ol mirror. Sing an Ah scale up and down in one phrase (1-2-3-4-3-2-1). Press your chin slightly in (point your chin towards the floor) — usually only 1” or so. Don’t let your head bob up as you raise the pitch. Keep it firmly in place. Go all the way up the scale of your voice keeping this position. Notice how your chin wants to move up as you raise your pitch. Keep it planted. This will give you more power and control and eliminate strain. Practice it until it becomes natural!
