Hi Reagan…as someone who listens to little else than Christian music…Casting Crowns, MercyMe, Michael W, Third Day and much Bethel Music…I have just successfully auditioned for a local Carols this year, singing Cloverton’s A Christmas Hallelujah – trying to make sure there is some good Christian message amongst the traditional stuff. I’m 55, and this is the first big one for me (5000+ people ) so keep going and good luck. Hoping these tips help…bd040197@hotmail.com br
Master Vocal Coach Ken Tamplin will teach you how to sing better than you ever thought possible – whether you are an adult who wants to train your voice to be the best it can be or singing lessons for kids just starting out. Right from the start, you will be excited at what you can accomplish-ESPECIALLY if you are a beginning singer!!!
All voice lessons focus on developing vocal range, pitch, tone production, breath control, enunciation, ear training, stage presence, and more.  All lessons include warmup exercises to improve breath control and to avoid damaging the vocal chords. All students are encouraged to bring any recordings of their favorite songs, or to let their teacher know what song they want to sing.
Relax. Don’t discourage him from practicing “because he’s going to learn bad habits.” That’s like saying to a kid who wants to play basketball, “don’t practice before you make the team, because you’re going to teach yourself bad habits.” Actually having practiced before seeing a teacher will make what the teacher says make a lot more sense/have relevance/be easier to learn. – bobobobo Jun 3 ’12 at 1:37
Although singing isn’t the most difficult skill to learn, it’s definitely more complex than it seems. To some learners, singing comes naturally and they can create beautiful vocals with very little practice or effort.
I strive to break bad habits, teach correct singing, and establish good technique. I have taught opera and pop styles, though I’m open to anything! My main focus is to get the student to sing correctly and efficiently. After that, style choice can come into play. With the correct technique, you can sing anything!

If you are a bit scared that your voice is not good enough for YouTube, just ask friends what they think then sing to more unknown people until you’re ready for YouTube and follow all of the good comments, not the bad ones.
Just sing frequently, with and without your favorite songs playing :P. If you’re tone deaf like I used to be then I highly recommend interval training. Once you’re able to recognize when you are off-key then you can start correcting it, and you need to practice a lot to develop the musculature and control needed. Constant practice like this has changed me from terrible singing to passable, though I do wish I had time for lessons.
Depending on the style of play the guitarist is interested in I move on from there. Mel Bays Classical method is always a solid choice as is the Christopher Parkening Guitar method. I also have a few tab oriented books and some rock/blues oriented books.
Once you have healthful singing down, you can structure your practice sessions something like this. Start with a 20-minute warm up session to work on your breath support, low and high range, chest voice and head voice, arpeggios, diction, or vibrato.

You’ll need to summon a bit of grit to work through those first few awkward days of recording yourself. Almost everybody hates the sound of their voice when they first hear it on a recording. You need to remember that this is most just the discomfort of unfamiliarity – it’s not that your voice or singing is bad.
During week 4, you will learn all the important factors about pitch. Learning how to sing on pitch is necessary if you want to become a professional singer. Autotune will no longer do the trick. A natural talent always shines through, and that is what everybody wants.
My vocal range isn’t so bad When i was a junior, ( I’m now in college) i Got a standing ovation when i sang love runs out by one republic. Everyone was clapping when i sang it. But there is always room for improvement. My voice had deepened over the years. so it’san adjustment. I want to audition for the xfactor or the voice. But i have a lot to work on
4 good habits would be: If a song is too high: Use your resonant (so-called “head”) voice. It can increase your range about a half octave. (6 semitones exactly, for me) If you have no idea what I mean by head voice, look it up. It’s a bit hard to explain. The other option is to sing louder (but don’t yell) if it is too high. My head voice is very weak, so I sing loud instead. Also, make your consonants clear. (I’m guilty of this one, too! 😄) If you sing into a mic, probably want to use the soft spongy covers for it if you get into this habit. That way you’re s’s won’t make everyone cringe from the high pitch. Don’t freak out if you suddenly sound terrible on one note. The closer you are to being on the correct note the worse it sounds, until our ears can’t hear the difference. And warm up first. Even if that’s singing a scale.
I highly recommend this course for every single person (beginners and experienced singers alike) who want to become the top-notch vocalists they’re destined to be. This course can definitely take you far.
Although classically trained, I also sing jazz, pop, R&B and gospel equally as well. I believe that I bring a rare perspective on music and feel uniquely qualified to teach/coach contemporary and classical singers. Students and parents will find my informances accessible, and I will inspire them to realize that their goals are attainable. During voice/coaching lessons, I will help students to improve their si

Be mindful of tempos and keys. Every decade of your adult life (between ages 15-25, again at 25-35 and again after 50) your vocal timbre and range is different. You have to allow for these changes in adjusting keys, tempos and song selection.
The doctor  will use a “Scope”- a little video camera on the end of a teeny cord- to determine if you have nodules or some type of tissue damage. He/she will also determine if you have an infection or allergy that has made your vocal cords inflamed. (Females with hormonal problems can have their vocal health yo-yo about.) The E.N.T. should check if you have GERD- acid reflux- where stomach acids are burning your vocal cords. Once all medical conditions are ruled out or treated, see a voice teacher who can evaluate if you are straining, if your song keys are wrong, and such. Then take a few months of lessons- 3 should do it,- and reverse any bad habits. You also need a custom warm-up routine to use before performing. Ask your voice teacher to evaluate your live show. You could be doing something different up there that is blowing you out. Read About Singers Secrets for maintaining a healthy voice.
+ They offer a bunch of follow up courses to take your singing even farther – my favorite was the “Superior Harmony” course where I learned how to sing along with other people, recognize different musical intervals that sound best when singing together, etc.
Things that vocal coaches will always stress are vowels, enunciation, and breath control. You want to have tall vowels when singing. Put your pointer and middle fingers between your front teeth to give you an idea of how wide your mouth should be. Make sure to over-stress your words. The clearer, the better! When breathing, don’t breathe from your lungs, breathe from your diaphragm instead, near your stomach. Pretend you’re sipping in chocolate milk. That’s where you should breathe from.

I’ve done more than a bit of research about Singorama by Emily Sander, simply because it’s so popular nowadays. What I’ve learned is that it has not only gotten a lot of positive reviews but also plenty of testimonials. While reading about the program’s features is certainly important, testimonials are even more so since they come from people who’ve used Singorama.
So, how do you strengthen your pitch-matching abilities? One method is simple aural drills. Start by playing a note on a piano to find your pitch. Sing along, and then subtly slide your pitch one way, and then back to the note. You’ll start training your ear to hear the varying pitches.
I also want to say that singing lessons online also cover lessons that regular vocal classes don’t even teach such as the anatomy of vocal cords, instilling discipline, posture, health and how to succeed in the industry.

I received my BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington; through college and to the present, I have received over 25 years of performing/directing experience from overseeing two mega-church music ministries. At these ministries, I served as the department head, responsible for lead piano, directing, arranging, worship leading, and departmen
Another approach is to join a community choir. While some choirs require auditions, others do not (particularly church choirs, but not exclusively religious). The choirs I’ve sung in have included work on technique, not just learning the repertoire.

Not far away, the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth is home to the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and the city is home to the wonderful man, founder and superstar himself, Van Cliburn. I know that there are still many out there who opt for traditional ways of learning how to sing, and that means hiring vocal coaches or taking classes. But more and more now prefer to learn on the Internet. The idea of singing lessons online may seem odd, but as I will show it has a lot of benefits.
You should scrounge up for at least one or two lessons to get guidance on breath-support and tone-quality. After that, you can be allowed to safely pursue your own course of study. 🙂 – luser droog Dec 8 ’11 at 9:44
