I don’t understand the first one… it says to make sure your mouth doesn’t close some to generate different sound… but based on my knowlege of language, and me trying to do this, it is impossible to make different tones without moving your jaw. It would clearly sound like “cah homwah eekein thih to re” Can someone explain this to me?
Practice your major scales, starting with the middle C, moving down in half-steps before moving up. Don’t push yourself before you’re actually singing, and try to move slowly. As you continue to warm up, you’ll get better at articulating all the notes in the scales.

A. Sometimes due to life choices, an adult with all sorts of talent and music training may stop singing for a while. That might be due to family, or fear, or perfectionism, or just not getting enough good luck at the right time. But because the foundation is there, one can pick it up again and get a really good sound together, and probably have a more emotional performance from all that life experience. If you feel comfortable after awhile, ask to join the church choir. Then you can start learning more demanding and challenging vocal music, and you will have an opportunity to learn, practice and rehearse with some structure and some goals in mind, every Wednesday night and Sunday morning, for free.

Think of practicing singing as you would exercise. Exercising every day improves your coordination and muscular ability. Using your voice every day improves the coordination and muscular abilities involved with breathing, lifting the soft palate, and relaxing the rest of the body.
High notes require breath control. Try taking a bigger breath down into your diaphragm before you sing a higher note. Keep your chest lifted and your don’t let your chin reach up – keep it neutral. Flex your pectorals slightly and try to keep the back of your mouth open (make a space at the back of your mouth) Then use my they will help open up your voice and improve your breath control and strengthen your high notes!
Finally, another manual called superior vibrato comes as a bonus. The 12 page manual on how to use vibrato vocal techniques. The book will help make your song and your singing voice sound so much better.
It seems unfair at times as some people come up with ideas for literally hundreds of songs, yet you can’t seem to come up with even one. But I would like to reassure you that everyone, including you, can write songs. It’s simply a matter of knowing which ideas can be best used, and take my word for it, there’s plenty.
3 bad habits to avoid would be: (don’t worry too much, though… a lot of good singers do this) Clearing your throat. It grinds your vocal folds together. (I’m guilty of that. 😞) Don’t even think about it. It makes you want to. Also, don’t sing way out of your comfortable range. Who isn’t guilty of this? Many popular male singers (me too) sing way higher they probably should. Don’t drink anything but water before, and don’t eat anything sticky/sweet before. It makes it harder to sing and reduces your vocal range.
I’m nervous when I arrive, but David instantly puts me at ease. I realise that finding a teacher who won’t judge you is crucial, because to get your voice in shape it’s helpful to put yourself through some embarrassing vocal exercises. Such as singing lyrics designed to help you pronounce vowels – never before have I been so passionate over a song about macaroni. Or having to sing while trying to lift David’s grand piano, the resultant strain forcing me to subconsciously belt out the notes with added volume.
Thank you for the information. Reseantly my voice started cracking and i couldnt reach my usual high notes so i didnt attend choir ( one of the leads ). I tried this and its pretty helpful, just not super sure if my proper voices will come back. ????

Arms – When you aren’t gesturing, you should be relaxing your arms at your sides. Don’t make fists, clasp your hands, or fidget with your clothes. This adds tension and makes you look (and feel) nervous.

Your voice is just like an instrument, and just like how it takes time to sound good on the guitar – it’s the same with your voice – but I guarantee you can do it with a mix of desire and persistence. How long? I definitely think that within 1-2 months of daily work you’ll sound a LOT better.
Licorice tea or candy (experiment with this, some people get an uncomfortably speedy buzz from licorice), baking soda or salt water gargles (see below), honey, sugar lozenges, steam, certain herbal teas — which teas to drink varies from person to person so experiment.
Things that vocal coaches will always stress are vowels, enunciation, and breath control. You want to have tall vowels when singing. Put your pointer and middle fingers between your front teeth to give you an idea of how wide your mouth should be. Make sure to over-stress your words. The clearer, the better! When breathing, don’t breathe from your lungs, breathe from your diaphragm instead, near your stomach. Pretend you’re sipping in chocolate milk. That’s where you should breathe from.

Yes there is. Most singers have breaks in their voice. You have to strengthen that area by exercising your voice with specific vocal exercises while holding your jaw down to lower the larynx. It is a process. You shouldn’t open the jaw too far (only about 1.5-2″ depending on how easily your jaw opens) This is a process we use in vocal technique that is a bit more complex than that but you can start with these exercises here https://www.caricole.com/singersgift
One of the things I am constantly teaching my private clients is that the voice is an instrument inside your body and you have to learn how to use it to get the most out of it. It’s very “physical” on the foundational level. To have a strong voice and to have vocal consistency there are certain things you have to know and do. There are some really simple methods you can use, right now, to get a great sound out of your instrument.
It’s always a good idea to go through the program more than once. You’ll definitely need to go through the vocal exercises a few times until you have them all memorized. But I find this course have all the material to practice and become a good singer,

I know an audiobook (100% free) which is called how to sing. You can get this book (text can be downloaded from Gutenberg Project), and you can get some idea and knowledge about singing. Also you might take a look at Music Notation & Terminology.
For clarinet and oboe students I like to compliment what their band/orchestra director is using when possible. I also love the Klose method for clarinet. The Rubank is also a tried and true book I use. I’ve had a lot of success with these books.
3 stars because it doesn’t always work… all the sudden my pitch won’t show up on the screen…. that it kind of the whole point. This seems to be because of a sort of crackling that makes it try to decide between a really low pitch or high pitch and it ends up just giving up. I would blame this on the headphones, but they’re from Apple and do very clear audio recordings. Or it just won’t work at all. But normally, the dot will move and twitch between a really low pitch and the pitch I’m actually at
So, how do you strengthen your pitch-matching abilities? One method is simple aural drills. Start by playing a note on a piano to find your pitch. Sing along, and then subtly slide your pitch one way, and then back to the note. You’ll start training your ear to hear the varying pitches.
