Though Aaron shows you everything to help you learn how to sing faster, a teacher can also answer your questions, and you can even ask him to show everything to you a second time, and even a third and fourth time.

The next step is to learn to control your voice as you move from note to note. This is what allows you to sing a whole song and stay in tune with accurate pitch throughout. Without this skill you might sing your first note correctly but then hit the wrong note next or gradually go off key. If you’ve ever seen a karaoke performance which starts off strong but sounds worse and worse as the song goes on, this is probably the step which that singer skipped in their training!
For clarinet and oboe students I like to compliment what their band/orchestra director is using when possible. I also love the Klose method for clarinet. The Rubank is also a tried and true book I use. I’ve had a lot of success with these books.
Hello, my name is Dylan. I am a High school student and I have been really wanting to start a band. If need be, I will go independent. I do struggle with equipment and money because, well, I have no money! I believe that I am a good singer and that I can get better. My one problem is stage fright. Terrified by the thought. Though I do have this fear and I plan on working on it, I really would like a vocal teacher or maybe someone who could help me with my music. If you think you can help in any way, PLEASE contact me at my email, zdylanz90@gmail.com. Thanks!
Begin with your hands on your stomach, placed on top of each other. Breath deeply and serenely through your nose so that the breath makes your stomach expand. As you exhale, your abdomen should contract slightly. Your inhale should be deep to the full capacity extent in order to hold out notes and phrases, and for the purpose of singing in legato. The exhalation should be mellow and slow, conserving every last bit of breath to input into your voice before taking the next breath.
Hi David. I’m just now reading your comment, and Cari’s mention of HearFones (paragraph 5), and would like to say that with HearFones, what you hear of yourself will immediately make a change in how you sing — in ‘real time’. Over 15,000 users around the world have told us so. It’s easy to understand why: imagine you’re a girl, putting on make-up WITHOUT a mirror. You’ve done it all your life, and you know the moves, but . . . As an infant boy, as a young child learning to speak, as a boy emulating the sound of a fire truck, you’ve never been able to actually hear your own voice . . . the one your audience hears. Your German teacher asks to to repeat and improve your diction in “Freude, schöner Götterfunken, tochter aus Elysium,” and you try and try and try, but . . . With HearFones, you will be building sound motor skills that teach you how to articulate the way you want to sound.
It may come as a surprise, but the answer is: yes. Anyone can improve their voice with online singing classes. Many people falsely label themselves as “tone deaf,” when in fact this lifelong condition only affects about four percent of the population.
@naught101 My criticism isn’t on the contents of the book and I’m not addressing the possibility that it may be wrong, but rather on the presentation of the text (which is archaic and hard to read). Just try and read the text yourself. It’s not good studying to learn from something that’s hard to grok while there are much more suitable books out there written in modern English. That book is a piece of history that IMO is to be enjoyed by experienced musicians who really feel like a tour down history’s past, not something a beginner should learn from. – bobobobo Sep 23 ’12 at 14:28

I’m sad to leave when our two hours are up yet I’m also on a massive high: all that air flowing through your body gives you an endorphin rush not dissimilar to a session in the gym. Have I mastered singing Don’t Stop by the time I leave? Far from it, but I feel I’ve gained a good grasp of the basics. And although I detect an element of sarcasm in my wife’s comments when I get home – “bloody hell, it’s Scott Walker!” – it’s undeniable that a whole range of previously unattainable baritone notes has been opened up to me.

You’ll need to summon a bit of grit to work through those first few awkward days of recording yourself. Almost everybody hates the sound of their voice when they first hear it on a recording. You need to remember that this is most just the discomfort of unfamiliarity – it’s not that your voice or singing is bad.
Neck – Your neck is a part of your spine. Streamline it with the rest of your spine rather than craning it forward. If you balance your head on your A-O joint, your neck should move into this position.

I finished the Superior Singing Method course two years ago, in early 2015, and it was really the kickstart to my singing. It did not only promise, but also delivered a tremendous improvement in my singing and made me confident, for the first time in my life, to sing in front of other people when I play music. And I wish I can let you feel the feelings you get when you get those “wow, you got a great voice!” sincere comments from people around – but you’ll have to try it for yourself and see…
First of all these programs make it a breeze for me to edit, play back, print and hear music sheets. I can save these files and experiment with them as much as I like. You can save these files in mp3 format and copy it to an mp3 player. Isn’t that a more convenient way to assess your work and check which elements need working on? Continue Reading »
