Once I decided that I wanted to become a better singer, I didn’t know where to start. To rise above other singers in the field who are amazingly talented, I knew I had to improve my voice. How can I achieve this?
This is as true when it comes to business or writing or almost any other field as it is for singing, and it’s important to keep this in mind when looking for a Vocal Coach. Would you rather train with someone who has spent many years exclusively teaching young people how to sing or with someone who was actually a professional Singer for many years and who then transitioned into being a Teacher or Professor? Ideally, your coach would have tons of experience in both roles, but that’s difficult to find and if you have to choose just one, go for the latter.
Arms – When you aren’t gesturing, you should be relaxing your arms at your sides. Don’t make fists, clasp your hands, or fidget with your clothes. This adds tension and makes you look (and feel) nervous.
I liked the idea, but the execution is severely lacking in what could be considered instructional guidance. There is no description of what you are supposed to do or achieve in the exercises. There is no explanation of the score you recieve, or how to improve. The songs from which you chose your goal are very limited, and yet you need to have your own Spodify account to use the entire song. On top of that, the limited list doesn’t have a trade off, such as added lyrics to follow or well-separated vocal and backing tracks. When it’s time to sing with the music, you can barely hear the instruments. Very disappointing.
Vocal range goes hand-in-hand with vocal power. Once you get your breath support under control, you can begin exploring your range. The ability to relax your throat and support your voice will give you the power needed for the wider range in notes.
For instance, these lessons cover such topics as berthing properly, expanding your vocal range, teaching yourself how to reach that “whistle” range (like how you see those singers do on TV). Even more advanced concepts such as blending vocal registers and boosting your vocal power without straining are also covered.
From there we throw ourselves into all manner of songs, reaching a peak with an emotional rendition of Take That’s Back for Good before ending the night as drunk as ever and belting out Erasure songs in keys that have almost certainly yet to be discovered. Although this last bit wasn’t strictly in David’s manual, I like to think he would have approved in some way: after all, the whole point of singing is to enjoy yourself.
Things that vocal coaches will always stress are vowels, enunciation, and breath control. You want to have tall vowels when singing. Put your pointer and middle fingers between your front teeth to give you an idea of how wide your mouth should be. Make sure to over-stress your words. The clearer, the better! When breathing, don’t breathe from your lungs, breathe from your diaphragm instead, near your stomach. Pretend you’re sipping in chocolate milk. That’s where you should breathe from.
I’m sad to leave when our two hours are up yet I’m also on a massive high: all that air flowing through your body gives you an endorphin rush not dissimilar to a session in the gym. Have I mastered singing Don’t Stop by the time I leave? Far from it, but I feel I’ve gained a good grasp of the basics. And although I detect an element of sarcasm in my wife’s comments when I get home – “bloody hell, it’s Scott Walker!” – it’s undeniable that a whole range of previously unattainable baritone notes has been opened up to me.
The Superior Singing Method has another benefit and that it can teach you how to sing in front of people and develop self confidence, essential if you want to become a professional singer and perform in front of huge crowds. In short, it doesn’t just provide you with information on how to become a skilled singer, but how to conduct yourself a professional performer.
These are just some of the reviews of the program, as I’ve read others stating how quickly it helped improve their singing ability. Based on these reviews, many people do find the Superior Singing Method easy to use.

It’s tough to choose and there’s a lot that will go into your final decision (and it’s a decision you’ll likely need to make a few times as you advance in your talents, move to go to college or find work in another city), but here are four things you should absolutely look for in a Vocal Coach, especially in the beginning.
As @luserdroog said in the comments, it would be best if you could get at least a couple lessons. Otherwise you risk learning bad habits with the physical aspects (that can’t be taught well except in person) that you’ll have to un-learn later.
Fun app with good live feedback on your pitch on exercises and overlay of your voice with the song. A few suggestions: let the user adjust the levels of their recorded playback and the snippet of the actual song independently, let the user scrub back to replay an earlier recorded section, let the user stop performing the song early if they choose, add a save button to previous recordings. The buttons for the iPhone X could be larger or otherwise more responsive. I’m also having some trouble with my mic disconnecting or coming in and out, and I don’t think it’s a hardware issue since I can pull up another app and record fine when I encounter the issue mid performance. More song choice would also be welcome.
@bobobobo, people have been singing for a lot longer than 96 years. I don’t see the book’s age as a valid reason for criticism. And there’s no strong reason to trust Amazon’s ratings. You might be right, but you need a better argument… – naught101 Sep 23 ’12 at 13:19

Try not to avoid the warm up. Warm up your voice everyday, Famous Vocal Coaching said that Finding a voice is not an easy task. Know your reach and its limits. When singing, your breathing ought to be profound, low, and supported. spend as much time practicing as you will in front of an audience.

You really are better at anything you do when you do it with confidence, I haven’t haven’t sang in a while since I lost my guitar but I use to have half@sssd confidence in it. I started singing again tonight and was confident anything is achievable if you set your mind (also had a lot of complements about my ability which helps) and I have been singing better then I ever have before, all day today. When you don’t believe in your abilities you don’t give it your all, the key is believing in yourself completely so can give it everything you have, without sabotaging yourself due to worry that your best isn’t good enough.

Hey, I’m a producer not a singer, so pardon me if this answer is a bit on the lines of “A Man with a Hammer sees every problem as a nail”. Maybe part of the problem is the recording and not your voice at all. Firstly everyone’s voice sounds weird to them when they first hear it recorded. That’s something you just need to get used to. Also, if your voice sounds “Unnatural” it might be because the way you are recording it has no reverb. You can fix that by standing further from the mic (especially if you’re standing in a church), or by getting some freebie music recording software that will add artifical reverb. Unless you have a good mic and know what you are doing, you’ll probably get a better result doing it in software. You might want to try adding some compression too. Once you realize you can get a better recorded sound, hopefully that will make you more confident singing live.

Hi, I love singing and I always try to imitate any voice I listen to.. I also have this natural baritone to tenor voice but every time I try using my natural voice to sing to any song I’m listening to I just find it difficult to do so because I feel I’m note hitting d notes right and so I switch to copying the voice. What do I do pleaseeeee. And is drinking warm water good for the voice.
