So, how do you strengthen your pitch-matching abilities? One method is simple aural drills. Start by playing a note on a piano to find your pitch. Sing along, and then subtly slide your pitch one way, and then back to the note. You’ll start training your ear to hear the varying pitches.
One of the things I am constantly teaching my private clients is that the voice is an instrument inside your body and you have to learn how to use it to get the most out of it. It’s very “physical” on the foundational level. To have a strong voice and to have vocal consistency there are certain things you have to know and do. There are some really simple methods you can use, right now, to get a great sound out of your instrument.
We would move a little faster for the older beginner and work through the Alfred’s All in One in conjunction with introducing my 5 steps to performance for any popular style. These steps have been very valuable for those that are wanting to play piano, guitar, bass, or even sing.
This is as true when it comes to business or writing or almost any other field as it is for singing, and it’s important to keep this in mind when looking for a Vocal Coach. Would you rather train with someone who has spent many years exclusively teaching young people how to sing or with someone who was actually a professional Singer for many years and who then transitioned into being a Teacher or Professor? Ideally, your coach would have tons of experience in both roles, but that’s difficult to find and if you have to choose just one, go for the latter.
Torso – Your torso contains your lungs, along with the many muscles that help them work. For optimal breathing, balance your torso on top of your hips and allow it to feel large and open. Don’t try to flatten your spine; it is naturally curved and flattening it will hinder your breathing.

We all know those few amazing singers who are famous for their wide vocal ranges – Mariah Carey for her five octaves, Ariana Grande for her full voice and head voice notes, and Toni Braxton for those low sultry notes.
My teaching approach: I tailor my lessons to fit the students goals. Beginner students want to learn songs, not theory. So I get the student playing /singing before I focus on scales and theory. I want to teach the student what they want to learn as well as giving them the skills to be a good musician/vocalist. I also determine what your learning style is, so that I can effectively teach you in the way you learn best. I have over 14 years teaching experience in guitar and voice, and I teach songwriting and ukulele as well.  I’ve been performing locally and internationally for over 7 years
Two Octave Scales: Provides maximum stretch on the vocal folds. Start in a low pitch and gently glide up the scale on a “me” sound. Don’t push the top or bottom of your range but do try to increase the range gently each time you do the scales. Now reverse and glide down the scale from the top to the bottom on an “e” sound. You can try this on the “oo” sound also.
Lots of singers, even professionals, take singing lessons because they experience pitch problems.  They are easy fixed with this vocal approach.   If your musical ear is fine, the issue is with one or more of the following:  1.  Lack of correct breath support.  2. Presence of moving vowels or lack of gradations.  3. Singing of improper or heavy consonants.
A typical lesson will include warm-up exercises, feedback on your singing style and skills, technical practice and singing song selections of your choice. Many teachers will play piano as you perform or at least pick out the notes for you on a piano. Generally, the goals are to help you develop tone, pitch, breath control, intonation, emphasis, volume, posture, relaxation and voice quality. TheLiveHouse.com.au outlines what happens during singing lessons.
I started playing recognizable melodies on the piano at 18 months old. At that time I was told that I even had perfect pitch. By age 5, my mother started giving me classical, gospel, and improvisational lessons. I was one of her 50 students until my senior year in high school. Through elementary, junior high, and high school, I received a lot of performance experience from school marching/concert bands, choirs, church choirs, piano concerts, band/choral conducting, and composing.
Audio input required and due to microphones / microphone drivers not being standard, there are some devices which the app will not work well. Please inform the developers via email, so we can investigate and make a fix.
maybe you cant, but to be honest….. let someone else judge you. A human will always certainly “down criticize his own traits (voice included)”. Let someone who u know will be 100% honest judge you. Best choice would be a person that cant sing himself but listens to shit loads of vocals. Trust me im a pioneer 😉
Marjorie has a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced. One thing you can be certain about her is that she has a passion for teaching and loves teaching beginners. The commitment to help you improve is there. In my opinion, that is what you want in a teacher. I have the utmost confidence in recommending Marjorie to someone who is looking for a teacher.
There is no absolute guideline to learning how to sing. If you want to sing well, you have to continuously and religiously practice, follow a training program that’s right for you, and try to develop your existing talents, with hopes of honing even new ones (new styles of singing, that is).
@bobobobo, people have been singing for a lot longer than 96 years. I don’t see the book’s age as a valid reason for criticism. And there’s no strong reason to trust Amazon’s ratings. You might be right, but you need a better argument… – naught101 Sep 23 ’12 at 13:19

At first, I had the same thing in mind but I was mistaken. Aside from what I had already mentioned here, the Superior Singing Method includes a system that enables you to ask the professionals questions or clarifications.
Once you get the hang of extending the vowel sound focus on listening to the qualities of it – eg. volume (can you produce loud or soft?); pitch range (can you make the sound high or low?); pitch constancy (can you hold one pitch? Can you visit other pitches in the same breath?)
Another aspect I personally enjoyed was the accessibility of this program, as I could easily “pack” it on my laptop or tablet, and read it virtually anywhere – in the bus, at work, in the park, at Starbucks, etc.
You’ve learned all the basics, and you’ve been listening to all the greats for inspiration, but remember: you simply cannot expect to improve without regular practice! Practice singing everyday, if possible.
If you’ve been looking for vocal training programs on the Internet, I’m pretty sure you have seen and heard of Aaron Anastasi’s Superior Singing Method. There are lots of vocal training programs out there but there’s no question that this is the best known. The question that may be on your mind is whether it’s as good as personal singing lessons.
“Aaron, I’m in the last week of the course and I just thought I’d say that the improvements I’ve seen are unlike anything I’ve ever expected!!! I thought I’d only sound this good in my dreams! It took me a little longer than most but I’ve finally seen the improvement I’ve been looking for!!! You’re awesome and thanks a bunch for creating this course!!!!”
Sing “mi-mommy-made-me-eat-my-m&ms” on the notes “do re mi fa so fa mi re do.” Start out by singing “mi” while moving the pitch up higher on the notes “do re mi fa.” “Ya” is to be sung on “so fa mi re do.” The note “so” is one pitch higher than “fa,” and therefore, it is necessary to imply on one pitch higher with the word “ya” before going back down the scale. Try to connect the notes and the words sung on the melody in a smooth fashion. This is called legato.

Now that you know your ears and brain are fundamentally capable of telling whether a note is in tune or not, it’s time to address the most likely cause of your difficulty singing in tune: an inability to match pitch with your voice.
You can become a much better singer by simply practicing. Just a few warm-ups in the shower daily can make a big difference. Practice your vowels; they are so important. Do this by dropping your jaw and elongating your vowels, to have better breath control. Your tone will improve as well.
A. You have the easiest problem for me to solve. My techniques utilize  a whole new genre of voice exercises that work your tone, diction and vowels for pop placement and other modern styles, but retains the flexibility you’ve developed so far. I invented this technique for this exact type of change over, and it really works.
I highly recommend this course for every single person (beginners and experienced singers alike) who want to become the top-notch vocalists they’re destined to be. This course can definitely take you far.
Not all singing lessons are created equal. If you have a specific singing style you would like to learn, look for it on your potential teachers’ lists of specialties. Examples include Broadway, country, gospel, classical, jazz, opera, choir, music performance, stage performance, musical theater, and ear training.
The key to this exercise is to make sure you are listening carefully as you practice. Don’t just rely on the tuner’s display. Try to always hear whether you are too high or too low before checking the display. That way you are gradually developing your own inner tuner so that in future your feedback loop can work directly without the assistance of a digital tuner.
Before you rush to figure out what type of singing voice you have, there are two things to keep in mind. Firstly, if you’re a male under 22, or a female under 20, then your vocal range is still developing and you won’t know your true voice type until you’re a little bit older.
If you are quite envious of those songwriters who are able to make a strong impression or a kind of popularity that could last a lifetime, you have come to the right page. I will give you ideas, even a step-by-step guide on how to write a love song.
