In addition to noticing your diaphragm move, think about your jaw, lips, tongue, cheeks and upper palate. Are they relaxed? What size and shape is the cavity inside your mouth? What happens to the sound if you change it? Make very small changes to consider the effects. Does it please you?
Once you have healthful singing down, you can structure your practice sessions something like this. Start with a 20-minute warm up session to work on your breath support, low and high range, chest voice and head voice, arpeggios, diction, or vibrato.

Every singer has a range of notes their voice is physically capable of producing. There are advanced techniques and long-term training which can extend this, but as a beginner you want to make sure you stay comfortable in your “easy” range. As soon as you start stretching your voice too high or too low your pitching will suffer (and so will your listeners!)

Okay, back to pitch. We’re going to sing center of pitch. What a lot of you are going to do, you’re going to slide into that note. You’re going to ah-uh-ah (sings at varying pitch). What I want you to imagine is, you’re going to aim right for the center of the bullseye. (Sings ah). And you want to imagine coming to it from above. Why is because the actually soft palette, which is inside the mouth, needs to lift for you to be able to hit center of pitch. That gets a little bit technical, but you can start taking lessons with a vocal coach to experience that more, because it’s really exciting when you start to make those changes and be more accurate with your pitch.
Start from an estimated guess as to what you feel the note sounds like to match pitch. Move the pitch of your voice up and down the scale as a siren until you match the desired pitch. You will be able to hear and feel when you meet this match.

Singing louder and singing softer should take the same amount of breath support, and vocal strain should not be experienced, either way. Using diaphragm breathing, these variations can be controlled throughout the song. Try alternatively bringing your right and left hands forward, one after and over the other. This technique is used to add volume to your voice to sing in forte or fortissimo.

Remember to practice even on your busiest days. As with physical exercise, even a 10-minute workout each day is better than nothing. If you have a commute, try practicing in the car. If you don’t have much time alone, ask your voice teacher for a few quiet exercises that you can do.

Our speaking voice is always inside our comfortable singing range, so you can treat this as an “anchor note” or a starting point for exploring your range. From this note, try sweeping up and down in pitch with your voice.
The third module is all about improving your vocal tone. Module 3 will give emphasis on how to use your soft palate the right way. This module will also help you try to eliminate any nasal cavity problems you might have will singing. Since the nose resonates naturally, your nasal cavity affects your vocal range.
Here are a couple of basic things a singer can do to start building a bigger voice: use correct breathing method, engage vocal resonances and master singing on clean stationary vowels.  There is a common misconception about how to breathe.  Some believe that a singer needs to expand their ribcage out horizontally while inhaling.  That is incorrect.  This will result in various issues such as limited vocal range, pitch problems, a wobbly shaky vibrato and more.
I am one of the best singer at my school. my vocals have gone from worst to the good (i guess) using software called “super singing method”. I believe every on should have a unique talent. i have developed mine you should too..
The basic solfege method is a system of symbols for each of the solfege pitches. The symbol for “do” is a fist. The symbol for “re” is a slanted hand with the side of your hand facing towards you, as should your thumb. Your finger tips should point slightly to the left. The symbol for “mi” is a flat hand as if you were placing it on a desk, and the side of your hand should face you once again, as should your thumb. The symbol for “fa” is a thumb’s down symbol with the inside of your thumb facing outward. The symbol for “so” is a flat hand with the palm facing outward. The symbol for “la” is a cupped hand that faces downward. The symbol for “ti” is a fist with the index finger pointing up and slightly to the left. Then, bring your index finger back into your fist to make “do.” You could attempt to master this method by practicing it over and over to gain the ability to symbol the notes faster. This could be an enjoyable and inspirational way to practice, as it helps to signal the notes while singing each of them. See what works for you. 🙂
@naught101 My criticism isn’t on the contents of the book and I’m not addressing the possibility that it may be wrong, but rather on the presentation of the text (which is archaic and hard to read). Just try and read the text yourself. It’s not good studying to learn from something that’s hard to grok while there are much more suitable books out there written in modern English. That book is a piece of history that IMO is to be enjoyed by experienced musicians who really feel like a tour down history’s past, not something a beginner should learn from. – bobobobo Sep 23 ’12 at 14:28
