The good news is, “YES!” You can learn how to sing, and if you already sing a little bit, you can learn how to sing better. That’s the short answer. Let me take a second to explain why this is the case.

Aside from the exercises and worksheets, the great thing about the training program is that you can get additional advice from real expert vocal coaches. Whether you are stuck with a problem, or you need some enlightenment on difficult subjects, you can ask the staff questions about anything.
Keep in mind though not to practice for long periods of time. Aim for anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes each day, and stop practicing as soon as you start to feel vocally fatigued, or ideally right before.
Thankfully, other methods of learning how to sing are now available that are both flexible to your schedule and much more affordable. On the internet today you can find companies that will provide DVD’s, CD’s, downloaded instructions, or training videos that can be effective in teaching anyone to sing. In addition to being much less expensive than traditional voice coaches, these products let you practice and learn at any time of the day, at your own schedule and pace.
Torso – Your torso contains your lungs, along with the many muscles that help them work. For optimal breathing, balance your torso on top of your hips and allow it to feel large and open. Don’t try to flatten your spine; it is naturally curved and flattening it will hinder your breathing.

Just like everyone else, I started searching online for techniques on exercising my voice without having to pay anything. The web is full of information. All the answers to my questions are there, right? That’s not exactly true.
I was a professional opera singer in Europe before returning to take care of my family. I have a Master of Music degree and have been teaching since 1988. I developed my methods myself, based on sound scientific data and original research.
Quality. Who’s selling the singing lessons and what will you receive? If you’re expected to learn from downloaded instructions, but don’t have convenient access to a computer, that’s important to know.
In fact, if you’ve taken beginner voice lessons before, you may have been surprised by how slowly your voice teacher went at first. You may have examined your posture, done some warm-ups and breathing exercises, all before you started singing an actual song.
For the next 20 minutes, study a song to learn the melody and rhythm. While memorizing the lyrics, work on your diction, pronunciation, and vocal tone. And finally, for the last 20 minutes you can practice vocal techniques including ear training, harmony, and sight reading.
Every singer has a range of notes their voice is physically capable of producing. There are advanced techniques and long-term training which can extend this, but as a beginner you want to make sure you stay comfortable in your “easy” range. As soon as you start stretching your voice too high or too low your pitching will suffer (and so will your listeners!)

But vocal warm up exercises are not going to necessarily give your voice a breakthrough making it any better than its current ability. You’re not necessarily going to increase your range, be able to sing higher notes or sustain better pitch by simply doing vocal warm ups. That’s where vocal strengthening exercises come in.

Your posture is a key part of singing and breath-management. If you’re hunched over or sitting down or even just slouchy, you can potentially cut your breath support, and therefore your ability to sing well, in half. I won’t get into all the details of it here, but the basic idea is to keep your chest/sternum high and intake air so that your torso expands below the ribs, on your sides near your oblique muscles, and your lower back, not necessarily just in your belly.
