“Love songs last longer than lovers often do” or so does one popular love song line stated. I cannot say whether that statement is true or false. What I know for sure is that love songs can linger into music fans’ memories, period.
Place the feet shoulder width apart and slightly bend your legs. (to ensure they are not locked, as locking the knees for a lengthy period of time could result in unconsciousness.) Warm up your voice in easy ways that do not create strain. Humming is an effective means of warming up, according to VoiceTrainingLessons.com, as is singing the eight notes in the musical scale in various ways. Try singing them in an over-pronounced, exaggerated style. Sing them again with long, drawn out notes and then in short, succinct sounds. The sounds associated with the eight notes you will sing are doh, ray, me, fa, so, la, ti and doh again. While warming up, and throughout your exercises, maintain good posture to improve and protect your voice. Also be sure to sing at a natural pitch and volume. Do not strain or sing forcefully in order to reach a desired tone. Straining may exhaust you, prevent you from hitting the notes you want or even cause damage to your vocal chords.
According to a couple of websites, the best way to learn how to sing is with a vocal teacher, a recorder, and practice. But let’s say I don’t have the means to get a vocal teacher right now. What other resources are available to me that I can use to sound better?

3 bad habits to avoid would be: (don’t worry too much, though… a lot of good singers do this) Clearing your throat. It grinds your vocal folds together. (I’m guilty of that. 😞) Don’t even think about it. It makes you want to. Also, don’t sing way out of your comfortable range. Who isn’t guilty of this? Many popular male singers (me too) sing way higher they probably should. Don’t drink anything but water before, and don’t eat anything sticky/sweet before. It makes it harder to sing and reduces your vocal range.
I’d been thinking about voice lessons for years, and finally started about a year ago. My wife found an instructor through the NATS website (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and I definitely recommend finding an instructor who has some kind of real, formal training, and who also has background in the style of music you’re interested in (most formally trained teachers seem to have a background in classical, chorale, and musical theatre, though some also cover pop, jazz, rock and even country). I started out with 30 minute lessons each week for $35 each, and eventually moved to 45 minute lessons at $50 each. Each class covers warm ups and vocal exercises for about 10-15 minutes, then reviewing the current songs with feedback, and occasionally generally discussing technique and style. The instructor also provides sheet music, mp3 recordings of the lessons, and mp3s of the accompaniments.

You really are better at anything you do when you do it with confidence, I haven’t haven’t sang in a while since I lost my guitar but I use to have half@sssd confidence in it. I started singing again tonight and was confident anything is achievable if you set your mind (also had a lot of complements about my ability which helps) and I have been singing better then I ever have before, all day today. When you don’t believe in your abilities you don’t give it your all, the key is believing in yourself completely so can give it everything you have, without sabotaging yourself due to worry that your best isn’t good enough. Your mind is your own best friend and worst enemy.

To be honest, when you’re hitting the higher notes, you should be shifting from your chest to your head voice anyway, so you asthma is less of a problem for higher notes and more of a problem when singing constantly low. Here are a couple of basic things a singer can do to start building a bigger voice: use correct breathing method, engage vocal resonances and master singing on clean stationary vowels.  There is a common misconception about how to breathe.  Some believe that a singer needs to expand their ribcage out horizontally while inhaling.  That is incorrect.  This will result in various issues such as limited vocal range, pitch problems, a wobbly shaky vibrato and more.

Sirens/Kazoo Buzz: Improves the resonant focus of the sound and continues work with maximal stretch on the vocal folds. The mouth postures are easily made by pretending you are sucking in spaghetti with an inhalation. On exhalation make the “woo” sound. It will be a buzz like sound.
