Every singer has a range of notes their voice is physically capable of producing. There are advanced techniques and long-term training which can extend this, but as a beginner you want to make sure you stay comfortable in your “easy” range. So what exactly should you record yourself singing? The answer is: your repertoire. That’s a fancy term musicians use to mean “the stuff they know and perform”. As a singer it just means a collection of songs you’re confident singing.
Learning this skill is about connecting up your ears (which we just proved are up to the task in step one) with your voice. There’s a sort of “feedback loop” that you need to practice, where you sing a note, hear whether that note is at the right target pitch or not, and then adjust accordingly.
Of course there are a lot of free vocal lessons on Youtube that you can learn from, but if you want a systematic approach with a step by step plan that will improve and build your voice gradually to a better place then these methods are worth to check out.

The A-O joint – Your very top vertebra, AKA the “atlas,” forms a joint with the bottom of your skull to support your head. Balance your head on this joint (the A-O joint) so that you are neither looking up or down. A properly balanced A-O joint reduces neck and jaw tension.

Your singing voice is greatly affected by your posture and state of muscles. This is why it’s imperative that you avoid putting your body under tension. If your body is in any way distressed, it will be reflected when you sing and your singing voice won’t be excellent. Being relaxed will help you sound very good when you sing. The posture to adopt in order to achieve an excellent voice when you sing is to stand erect, look forward, keep your shoulders relaxed, and space out your feet so that they are parallel to your shoulders. Ensure your back is straight. The right singing posture will help you to avoid unnecessary muscle tension and thus making your singing sound very good.
So, how do you strengthen your pitch-matching abilities? One method is simple aural drills. Start by playing a note on a piano to find your pitch. Sing along, and then subtly slide your pitch one way, and then back to the note. You’ll start training your ear to hear the varying pitches.

Higher pitched notes are produced by the head voice, and it’s more often than not created by female singers. Theory and Ear-training I feel are very important to learn when trying to understand music. It just gives you a basic mathematical way of understanding how music works. You can listen to a chord progression on the radio and go home and play it and also improvise over it.

The question I hear more than any other, when it comes to singing, goes something like this: “Can I learn to sing even if I don’t have a ton of talent?” or “Do you have to basically be born with the ability to sing? Because I wasn’t, but I’d still like to become a good singer.”
Even professional singers have to practice everyday to maintain their level. Singing is an exercise, and to do it well requires practice. If you want to go run a race, for example, you train beforehand. You run daily, stretch, read about running, and immerse yourself into a sort of running world. If you do run a race without training, you might simply run out of breath and have to walk. You might even have to stop altogether, or worse yet, you might get injured. In the same way, you shouldn’t attempt to sing at a ‘trained’ level until you have practiced, reflected, stretched, and actually sung quite a bit on your own or with a tutor or instructor. Only in this way will you excel.
I say the App is great! I hate how people are giving it one stars because it’s too “advance”. I mean, how? To me, it’s really easy actually. You press on a exercise and it gives you a task (it goes from easy to hard). If you did it great! Then you get 5, if you didn’t, you get a 1 (which s what I usually get because I suck at singing hence why I downloaded this). It even gives you tips, and tricks. I say my singing has gotten better. I would like if the graphics weren’t so 90’s looking, BUT its free lol.
