Your posture is a key part of singing and breath-management. If you’re hunched over or sitting down or even just slouchy, you can potentially cut your breath support, and therefore your ability to sing well, in half. I won’t get into all the details of it here, but the basic idea is to keep your chest/sternum high and intake air so that your torso expands below the ribs, on your sides near your oblique muscles, and your lower back, not necessarily just in your belly.

The next step is to work on your vocal power. Vocal power requires proper breathing and diaphragm control. Add some breathing exercises to your daily warm-up, and pay attention to correct positioning of your jaw, mouth, and body to help with this.
Sequences such as “Mi Me Ma Mo Mu” up and down the scale will give you practice in opening your mouth, relaxing your throat, and supporting your sound. You don’t want these notes to sound nasal, but rather supported and steady.

Okay, let’s talk for a second about the two different types of vocal lessons. The first are vocal warm ups. These are great for the purpose they serve, which is to wake your voice up and prepare it for more strenuous activity—singing! They are great for maximizing your current vocal ability and range. Vocal warm ups can be compared to stretching before working out or before a race.
The most common problems people face are “problems with pitch”, “the crack in the voice” when going from chest voice to head voice, “singing higher notes” and “losing the voice” due to using of the voice in the wrong way. Most people also don’t know there are simple and easy ways to start improving the voice in a real short amount of time.
Usually, we progress with a chosen curriculum according to the student’s or parent’s vision and initial overview during the 1st few classes. However, all curriculums are supplemented to enhance student performance and comprehension. Our supplemental material is used to go swifter for material that you grasp well and understand, and slower with more repetition for that that you need more practice, without being monotonous. It is also used to provide appropriate but exciting reinforcement of all material to ensure that material is retained.

This can be intimidating and unnerving at first – but it’s still less scary than singing in front of other people, right? You can be alone in your room to do it, and the only person who’ll ever hear the recordings is you. So there’s nothing to be embarrassed about.
Even professional singers have to practice everyday to maintain their level. Singing is an exercise, and to do it well requires practice. If you want to go run a race, for example, you train beforehand. You run daily, stretch, read about running, and immerse yourself into a sort of running world. If you do run a race without training, you might simply run out of breath and have to walk. You might even have to stop altogether, or worse yet, you might get injured. In the same way, you shouldn’t attempt to sing at a ‘trained’ level until you have practiced, reflected, stretched, and actually sung quite a bit on your own or with a tutor or instructor. Only in this way will you excel.
Locate your diaphragm below your chest and above your belly – buried behind muscle, but detectable when you notice your chest expanding as you inhale. The goal is to direct all of your inhaled air into your balloon-like diaphragm – not your shoulders.

Keep in mind that if you’ve never taken singing classes or lessons, you will have a much more limited range than a trained singer, especially when it comes to the upper range. So be careful not to wrongly label your voice as “low” until you’ve had some proper training.
Inhale slowly and suspend your breath for a second or two, then let the air out with a steady “hiss” sound. Listen to the hiss and make sure there are no bursts of air making the hiss louder or faster. Keep your exhalation steady.
I haven’t gotten completely into it yet but I like what I’m seeing, general tips, lots of exercises & surprisingly accurate at tracking your notes… You can create custom songs(note combinations) to practice what you want when you’re done with the exercises. Surprisingly well made app.
