The course covers all the basics and includes several exercises and warmups. The only downside to this otherwise great course is it is completely software based. This means you have to be by your computer to learn. If you don’t mind that, then it’s a great option for you.

Breathing is also an important factor in singing. You will produce a pleasant tone if you work with your breathing. Conversely, singing at the same time as you’re out of breath will result in you exerting too much tension on your voice and may eventually lead to injury. If you want to achieve an excellent tone when singing, then you must breathe deeply (don’t inhale with your mouth, rather use your nose) through your lower lungs and exhale using your nose and mouth. You’ve probably heard the word “tone” a lot as a singer, but what exactly does it mean? Is tone something you need to improve or develop? Not exactly. Your tone can’t be changed; it’s your unique “vocal thumbprint” and is primarily determined by the shape of your head, throat, and sinuses.

Just like you would never see a runner refuse to stretch his or her legs before a race, it’s unwise to jump right into performance singing or strengthening exercises without having readied your voice with warm up exercises.
