Let’s start out by explaining what we mean by “not overdoing it.” With singing, how you practice matters just as much as what you practice. Our best advice is to practice singing healthfully. Singing healthfully, or singing without unnecessary tension or effort, will increase your stamina.
Let me give you an example of how knowledge can begin to improve your singing immediately. One of the most important aspects of singing is breath-management, which just means having enough air and learning how to best use the air that you have. Well, while there is a lot to that, one thing is primary, and it’s something that you can do right now if you know it. And here it is.
You can become the talented, confident singer that everyone wants to listen to. You can reach high notes effortlessly. Pitch, tone and range can all be taught. You can protect your voice with correct vocal method, so you can sing for hours without losing it.
Personally, I love all of the products that come from the company HearAndPlay and their Vocal Mastery System is great. I first heard of them when I was trying to learn how to play piano. I bought their course and absolutely loved it. They way they teach you is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It is basic concepts broken down in an easy-to-understand way without too much technical mumbo-jumbo.
The course covers every basic aspect of singing. It also includes different vocal warm-ups and exercises. Singorama could have been a great course all-in-all except for it being totally software based, meaning all your training will only be through your computer.
The book includes tips and tricks on how to write and record your songs, promote your music, make money, and go on tour. The book will also provide you information on the ins and outs about major record companies and dealing with the companies.
Start with a few simple things: pay attention to your nutrition and health in general, including eating well, staying hydrated, not smoking, and getting enough sleep. From there, watch how your health influences your singing.
However, the best part of this course is the fact that you have access to real-life support. You can ask Aaron questions about anything – something you’re having trouble with, clarification on a certain concept, or whatever. It is the next best thing to actually having a vocal coach. I learned music by ear, and have had a very hard time trying to learn how to read music and understand theory. Jenine explained how to read music very simply, and gave me step-by-step lessons on how to practice reading it until I became fluent with it. She really helped to make sense of it. She’s very patient and helpful! I highly recommend taking lessons with her!
As you work through these steps remember that learning to sing in tune is simple and methodical process. You might hit some snags along the way (because learning is like that) but as long as you follow this process and don’t try to run before you can walk, you should find it is a smooth and enjoyable journey.

Mezzo Soprano – A mezzo soprano, also referred to as an “alto” in the choir world, is a woman with a lower voice. The mezzo soprano range is G3-A5. Some examples of famous mezzo soprano singers are Adele and Ella Fitzgerald.
A very useful framework for practising vocal control is solfa (a.k.a. “solfege” or “do re mi”). This is a system where you give a name to each note in the scale, which makes it easier to understand which note you’re aiming for each time you change pitch.
Everyone has their own voice and whether we realize it or not, nearly all of us strive to find and develop it. Singing well involves the breath, the resonators of the upper face, and the muscles that you use to speak (in the lips, tongue, and jaw). Try looking at yourself in the mirror while practicing to make sure you aren’t doing any extra, unnecessary work.
Usually, we progress with a chosen curriculum according to the student’s or parent’s vision and initial overview during the 1st few classes. However, all curriculums are supplemented to enhance student performance and comprehension. Our supplemental material is used to go swifter for material that you grasp well and understand, and slower with more repetition for that that you need more practice, without being monotonous. It is also used to provide appropriate but exciting reinforcement of all material to ensure that material is retained.
Without a doubt, you’ll find parts you weren’t happy with. Don’t criticise yourself for this! Every negative thing you notice is an opportunity to improve. Like when you found out you weren’t tone deaf, this just shows that you have the awareness you need to be able to improve. Exciting!
Breathing is also an important factor in singing. You will produce a pleasant tone if you work with your breathing. Conversely, singing at the same time as you’re out of breath will result in you exerting too much tension on your voice and may eventually lead to injury. If you want to achieve an excellent tone when singing, then you must breathe deeply (don’t inhale with your mouth, rather use your nose) through your lower lungs and exhale using your nose and mouth. Breath support helps to prevent you from straining your throat, and thus enabling you to produce a pleasant tone.

Your singing voice is greatly affected by your posture and state of muscles. This is why it’s imperative that you avoid putting your body under tension. If your body is in any way distressed, it will be reflected when you sing and your singing voice won’t be excellent. Being relaxed will help you sound very good when you sing. The posture to adopt in order to achieve an excellent voice when you sing is to stand erect, look forward, keep your shoulders relaxed, and space out your feet so that they are parallel to your shoulders. Ensure your back is straight. The right singing posture will help you to avoid unnecessary muscle tension and thus making your singing sound very good.
